The Mission
Why send chile to space?
New Mexico is the only place on Earth home to both Hatch green chile — the most famous chile pepper in the world, grown in the Mesilla Valley near Las Cruces — and Spaceport America, the world's first purpose-built commercial spaceport. Nobody has put those two things together. Yet.
Space Roast is a community-funded mission by Roadrunner Technologies LLC to launch authentic Hatch green chile from New Mexico to the upper atmosphere, document every moment on camera, and bring it safely back to Earth. It's a celebration of everything New Mexico is — agricultural roots, aerospace ambition, and community pride.
